Your Time To Travel
Meet Karl
Hi, I'm Karl — the voice behind Your Time To Travel. After decades in law enforcement and the military, I sold everything I owned and set out to build a slower, freer life abroad.
That career taught me discipline, how to plan, and how to stay calm when things don't go to plan — skills that, it turns out, serve you well when you're living in a new country. But it also runs on schedules, structure, and "someday." Somewhere along the way I decided I was done waiting for someday.
Life has a way of redirecting you when you least expect it. Mine recently took a turn I hadn't planned for, and Your Time To Travel is stepping into a new chapter — one I'm writing solo. New road, same destination.
What hasn't changed is the mission: helping people over 50 — couples, retirees, and anyone tired of waiting — design a slow travel lifestyle that's affordable, meaningful, and actually doable. Not the rushed ten-cities-in-ten-days kind of trip. The kind where you settle into a place, learn the barista's name, figure out the local market, and let it get under your skin.
Letting go of possessions was part of getting here. Becoming a minimalist didn't leave me with less — it gave me room. Through the podcast, the YouTube channel, and the guides in the shop, I share what I've learned the honest way: by living it. How to stretch a pension into a global lifestyle. How to downsize without losing your mind. How to live abroad lighter and freer than the brochure version of retirement ever promised.
This is your time. It always was. I'm just here to remind you it's not too late to use it.
Come along — I saved you a seat.
